Taekwondo Forms
is a martial art and fighting sport that was started in Korea. It aims to achieve self control, modesty, perseverance and indomitable spirit.
Through dedicated training the student can hope to attain mental and physical fitness. By dedicated practising and repeating all move to near perfection, we shall become more and more patient. Self-confidence is gained through the power of one’sown body and the understanding of how to use it anywhere and in any situation. Free sparring helps us gain humility, courage, alertness, and also accuracy and develops self-control. By doing Taewkondo forms , we maximise our flexibility, grace, balance and co-ordination.
Through discipline and interaction with other students, we learn co-operation and mutual respect. Along with gaining a healthier, leaner and more flexible body, we also gain endurance through a typical training routine. The health-related effects of training are many.
Taekwondo has been going through a learning process for many thousands of years. Nonetheless, it was not until the 1950s that Taekwondo was standardized and organized by General Choi Hong Hi and the sport was brought outside the Korean borders, firstly to Vietnam and the USA, and then to the rest of the world. At the moment, Taekwondo is organized in 3 international federations: WTF,ITF and the GTFTaekwondo with the first competition held during the Olympic Games in Sydney, Australia, in 2000
